Spa Breaks fit for a King (or Queen)!

Published: 12th July 2013
Okay, so we know that we are not the next generation of royalty, but it doesn’t mean we can’t feel like it! And what better way to celebrate the imminent arrival of one baby Windsor and the news of another royal addition by making the most of all that this glorious country has to offer!

So leave your passport at home and enjoy a spa break in the UK! Who wants to worry about travel insurance, flight cancellations and the exchange rate anyway?!

Our spa-stayer recently went to St. Ives to see what was on offer by the beautiful Cornish Coast…

Set high on the Coastal path sat the St Ives Harbour Hotel, with its unbeatable view across the Porthminster Beach and just a couple of minutes from St Ives train station.

With a sun terrace which has ample seating, you can choose to either sip a glass of something sparkly whilst taking in the stunning view, or stroll down to the warm sand and have a dip in the refreshing water at this award-winning beach.

Just a few minutes walk away is the St Ives seafront, with its collection of gift shops, yummy local eateries and galleries. The town itself was full of holiday makers and yet, thanks to the sprawling coastline and number of restaurants by the seafront, it never felt too busy or crowded.

Or, if you're looking for more adventure, there are boat trips which leave from the harbour regularly to take tours of local coastal attractions (such as the lighthouse and Seal Island). This was fantastic fun and we were lucky enough not only to see a few Atlantic Seals basking on the famous island but a Sun Fish made itself known on the way back to shore - bonus!

Pop into the local tourist information centre when you arrive to get all the info on the local attractions, such as the boat trips, ghost tours, coastal walks and gallery exhibitions. (With the coastal walk, it is essential to get the information on the correct routes so you get to the see the best of the coast safely).

(Look at that sand- who needs Mauritius?!)

With entertainment galore and the harbour lively into the late evening with local businesses, families and holiday makers its sure to appeal to all ages. With the beautiful weather we are currently enjoying, it’s the perfect place to unwind - enough to do but peaceful enough to feel like you have escaped the fast pace of the working day.

Take the coastal train from St Ives to Penzance and take in the breathtaking views before exploring a little further up the coast (check trains are available as some will only stop early morning and/or late evening at certain stations).

So dig out your swimming costume and head down to one of England’s most beautiful coastal resorts for a fun-filled holiday, perfect for friends, couples, groups and families.
