SpaStaySelect visit to the Hallmark Hotel Hull
The team were lucky enough to experience the 'Pamper Spa Break' for themselves!
Driving over the magnificent Humber Bridge, as we made our way to the hotel, all we could think was- what an impressive start to our weekend!
Our first impression of the hotel was very positive; the modern exterior (which is surrounded by trees) led to a contemporary and spacious reception area. As we were in a bit of a rush, we didn’t get to sit down on arrival, but we soon got to have a moments rest before our spa treatments in the relaxation room. We sat in a cosy corner whilst another group of ladies enjoyed a glass of something sparkly on another table. With enough space for a few small groups or a number of couples, it’s the perfect place to unwind before and after your treatment.
Then we were whisked off for our treatments. Well, what could anyone say other than WOW! Personally, I’ve always been a facial or a manicure kind of girl but I think I may be a massage convert after this! Using [comfort zone] skincare, spa therapist Steph quickly put me at ease with a combination of tailored questions and expertise. The overall result was one very relaxed spa goer! The sauna is nearby and the perfect size for a small group, whilst the bright gym with its panoramic windows and fabulous view had us ready to get our trainers on!
Feeling pampered and refreshed, we made our way to the bedrooms to get ready for the evenings drinks and dinner. The first thing that struck me when we arrived at the standard twin room was how large it was. With ample space for the twin beds, flat screen TV, side tables, wardrobe, desk and suitcase stand, we still had plenty of room to move around in. The en suite had all you need for your stay, including a bath (with overhead shower), complimentary toiletries and fluffy white towels. So providing you remember your toothbrush and toothpaste you’ll be fully equipped for the weekend! Being so chilled out after our time in the beauty rooms, we could have quite happily got into our robes, put the kettle on and had a snooze on the comfortable beds! But being eager to explore the hotel facilities we headed to the terrace for a drink before dinner.
Depending on the weather there is an indoor and outdoor area to relax, the bar and the terrace. On a sunny evening you can sit back and relax with a glass of wine (from the bar’s extensive wine menu) whilst taking in the unspoilt view of the stunning Humber Bridge and Humber River from the terrace. If the weather is a little less inviting outside, grab a table by the floor to ceiling windows and take in the same views or sink down in one of the comfy sofas with a coffee before dinner.
After drinks we made our way to the Brasserie for a three course dinner (which is included in the Pamper Break spa break). Immediately welcoming, the staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly as they gave advice on dishes and places of interest in the local area. The menu itself had a wide variety of delicious starters, mains and puddings to choose from and the staff are happy to check any concerns with the chefs regarding allergy advice. We each chose a different starter (Chicken Liver Parfait, Grilled Seafood in Garlic Butter and Smoked Salmon) and main (Half Chicken with Chips and Salad, Pork Wellington and Lamb Ragu) and were all impressed. Despite the fact that we had already eaten more than enough we all made sure to save a little space for pudding (well you’ve got to haven’t you!). Individually we chose the Knickerbocker Glory, Banana & Baileys Bread & Butter Pudding and a Selection of Ice creams & sorbets.
After one last drink after dinner at the bar we headed back to our comfortable rooms for a cosy nights sleep.
The next morning breakfast was served in the Brasserie, where we quickly grabbed a table by the window so we could enjoy our delicious buffet breakfast with a view! Included in the breakfast was the choice of tea or coffee along with a buffet style full English breakfast, the choice of fresh fruit and yogurts or cereals, pastries and toast. So whatever your taste, there will be a breakfast to suit it!
After checking out we then made the short drive (it’s just over 10 minutes) into Hull for a spot of retail therapy! Perfect!
