SpaStaySelect visit The Vale Resort, Cardiff
Read all about our visit to the 4* Golf & Spa Break venue
Sat in 650 acres of Welsh countryside, yet less than 20 minutes’ drive from Cardiff City Centre, The Vale Resort boasts the location of a city break with the beauty of a countryside retreat. Our first impression was that the resort had ample parking, something that will come in handy as the award winning leisure facilities mean that this hotel is never short of visitors!
Entering the reception, we immediately made ourselves at home on the large, comfy sofas and had a look at the variety of information leaflets and booklets available before our show round.
The leisure facilities:
When we say multi, we mean multi! The multi-award winning spa at the Vale Resort has been picking up prizes galore and it’s not hard to see why. State-of-the-art facilities, a wide selection of equipment and qualified instructors mean that whether you are new to the gym or a fitness fanatic, you will be able to get the most out of your workout.
Located near to the gym are the wet facilities- a large indoor swimming pool (which does offer children’s swim times), a good size Jacuzzi and a steam room and sauna. Tucked behind the back of the swimming pool the Jacuzzi is a great place to relax and unwind with a group of friends on a hen party spa break!
The spa facilities:
Above the leisure facilities is the Vale Resort Spa; complete with a shop, cafe and luxurious relaxtion facilities. We were impressed to see the wide variety of products and gifts available at the shop, which included popular brands such as Clarins, Jessica Nails, Yankee Candles, Crabtree & Evelyn, The Natural Spa Company, Sundari and tanning products from both Clarins and Kissed. The spa shop is completed with spa cafe, which has comfy seats for relaxing with a Lavazza coffee or tables and chairs for when you would like a spot of cake and spa lunch!
Inside the spa the soft lighting and cosy funishings mean that you will stay feeling relaxed before, during and after your spa treatments and depending on whether you wish to relax with friends, a magazine or simply lie down on a comfy heated bed, the different zones mean you can find an area to suit you. If you are booking a group spa break there is also a small relaxation room that can be reserved for your group, meaning you can catch up and chill out together. Why not treat your feet in the pedicure room, stop at one of the two manicure stations for a little tlc for your hands or book a romantic massage and enjoy your treatments in the amazing dual his & hers treatment room complete with its own separate seating area?
As the hotel was very busy (we visited on a Friday night), we were only able to see the Bridal Suite but it was a great indication of the decor and style of the bedrooms. The bathroom was a great size and the rooms come with separate bath and shower facilities and mini toiletries. The rooms are light, airy and modern in decor, with some even having their own private balconies!
Good to know:
This is a great family friendly resort, with excellent childcare faciliites.
And bring your racket for a game of tennis on one of the outdoor courts in the summer (although please do check first for availability)!
The hotel has several large meeting and events rooms.
Due to the close proximity to Cardiff City Centre, this venue is an excellent location for group and hen party spa breaks.
